The Landed UFO and Beings Seen in the UK in 1951 by Sheila Burton

by Brent Raynes

In 1978, British paranormal researcher and author Andrew Collins investigated an extraordinary UFO encounter case with entities described by one Sheila Burton. In her late teens at the time, Burton claimed that the incident happened back in September 1951, in Brighton, East Sussex. At the time, she was staying with her parents in the district of Withdean, and it was just a few days before she was to be married. She described how she had awakened one morning to glance out her bedroom window, noticing the late summer flowers in the back garden. It was quiet as no one else was yet up. Then, quite unexpectedly, there appeared a mysterious and large disc-shaped object with flashing red lights. It descended quickly from the sky and landed on the lawn as three large and evenly spaced panels opened. A being wearing one-piece silver suits, with egg-shaped heads and pointed ears, emerged from each door. The three beings were between 1.5 and 1.8 meters tall. Also each being had a science fiction looking “ray-gun” on their hip.

In his book Alien Energy, Andrew Collins wrote: “After some 20 or so paces, the three identical-looking entities suddenly stopped and began to walk backwards in a synchronized manner until they simultaneously re-entered the landed object. The large, square panels then closed, red lights started flashing again and almost instantly the silvery disc shot vertically upwards and was lost from view. The whole event had lasted no more than 40 to 50 seconds at the most. It was as if someone had hit the rewind button on a video machine, making the tape run backwards at an exaggerated speed until the gradually unfolding scenario had totally reversed itself. Such absurd actions are not what one might expect of highly advanced, extra-terrestrial visitors who would presumably have crossed galaxies to be here, and yet Sheila Burton, who is a mature and sensible woman, appeared to be sincere and I found no good reason to doubt her testimony. Furthermore, the descriptions of the entities might also be described as a perfect cross between an astronaut and an elf.”

“Cases such as this, and many more like it, convinced me that, although the witnesses might be truthfully relating very real experiences, physical spacecraft from another planet was simply not the answer.”

Editor’s Note: Patsy Wingate, an abductee from east Tennessee, has described to me how three “greys” entered her bedroom back in 1985. She stated that she grabbed the one in the middle and it’s neck seemed to snap. “I swear its neck just snapped like a twig,” she said. “It sounded exactly like a small twig breaking. ....Those two that were with it, they had the funniest kind of look....They seemed surprised.” She added, “When these things walked in that room they walked together in unison. I’ve never seen anything walk more perfectly together.” Patsy claimed that when she apparently snapped the neck of the middle “grey” that the other two “backed up” and “dragged” their fallen comrade out the same way they had entered.

I thought that the manner in which the three “greys” walked in “unison” in this Tennessee case was very similar to the “synchronized” manner of walking observed with the three entities in the British case.

Coincidence?

For more details on Patsy Wingate’s story, I interviewed her for the June 2004 Alternate Perceptions (No. 80) and also for my book Visitors From Hidden Realms.
