The 1996 Alien Captures of Varginha, Brazil? On Saturday, January 20, 1996, a very extraordinary series of events reportedly occurred in the Brazilian city of Varginha, in the south of the state of Minas Gerais. It apparently all began around 1 a.m. when Oralina Augusta and her common-law husband Eurico Rodrigues (or Eurico de Freitas, according to another article) were awakened by the commotion of their farm animals. Looking outside the couple observed a submarine shaped grey object, the size of a small bus, silently flying a mere five meters above their pasture. No lights were seen on the craft, though it was spewing white smoke as it headed off towards Varginha. At about 8:30 a.m. the Varginha Fire Department received an anonymous phone call about a bizarre creature seen in the Jardim Andere neighborhood. Though they suspected that the call was a prank, they nonetheless went out to investigate it, as they are often assigned the job of capturing wild animals loose in the area, and reportedly came upon a group of children and adults who had pursued the creature to a gully located in a small wooded area around 10 a.m. The firemen captured the creature, which was said to have offered no resistance (although another account described difficulty), in a net. The creature was described as being about three and a half foot tall, had blood-red eyes, and oily brown colored skin. It also had three raised bumps atop its forehead, and appeared to be injured. Dragging it from the scene, they then reportedly placed the creature in a wooden box, and the box was then driven away in a truck that belonged to the Brazilian army. The military had been called by one of the fire fighters in charge. Reportedly the capture occurred sometime between 10:30 and 11:00 a.m. Meanwhile, two sisters, Liliane de Fatima Silva, 16, and Valquiria Aparecida Silva, 14, and a friend, Katia de Andrade Xavier, 22, happened around 3:30 p.m. that afternoon to be walking past an open area of land when they saw a strange creature themselves. In a statement later attributed to the three girls they gave this description of the creature: It looked like a man, but it wasnt. It had brown skin, bulging red eyes, bulging veins, enormous feet and three protruding bumps on its head. I thought at first, that it was a statue, stated Liliane. But it wasnt. Valquiria and I thought that it was an animal. Katia started to say it was a demon. The three girls left the scene running and screaming. When they arrived home the mother of the two sisters came running out to meet them. She found them in a state of shock and tried to calm them down. In the meantime, a young girl and an elderly woman whose attention had first been drawn to the screams of the girls, reportedly witnessed the city fire department capture this creature also. A Brazilian ufologist named Vitorio Pacaccini was able to get a military man who had been personally involved in this case to divulge some details. He confirmed that the account by the three young girls was true and that their descriptions had been accurate, and that the being made a buzzing sound similar to that of a bee. In addition, the creature had indeed been captured by personnel of the Varginha City Fire Department and had been examined at Hospital Regional de Varginha and the next day transported to Hospital Humanitas. Now dead, it was then taken to Escola de Cadetes and then to the University of Campinas. According to a report by ufologist Scott Corrales, the Brazilian military had reportedly come into possession of at least three alien bodies at Varginha. At least details of two alien captures had been obtained by Brazilian UFO investigators who were quickly on the scene. Pacaccini also revealed that in an interview with a radar operator of the Brazilian Air Force he was told that the Brazilian Armed Forces had been given a heads up on the situation by the United States as they had been tracking a UFO that was entering Brazilian airspace. The heads up included latitude and longitude, which Pacaccini stated accounted for the quick response of the Brazilian military in this case. Also there may have been an American military presence at the scene, as an American civilian was present when the first alien creature was reportedly captured and loaded onto a military truck, and a C-5 or C-17 USAF transport plane was seen at Sao Paulo International Airport that same day, and that same aircraft again was seen at Campinas Airport on January 22nd. Just days prior to the entity capture incidents of Varginha, UFO activity had been described in that area by hundreds of frightened witnesses. In fact, just a week before the January 20th flying submarine sighting an identical object was observed by a 31-year-old man and his 9-year-old daughter. Three months later, on April 21, Mrs. Terezinha Gallo Clepf, 67, was eating at a Varginha restaurant, and had stepped out onto a back porch for a cigarette when she says she almost had a heart attack upon seeing one of these creatures with the glowing blood-red eyes staring at her! Three weeks later, a motorist in a van was rounding a curve when he caught sight of one of these creatures in his headlights. He came to a complete stop. The creature put its arms up in front of its blood-red eyes and then scurried off. It had only three or four fingers on each hand. Other witnesses had described how the creatures had only three fingers. References: 1. The Brazilian UFO Report, Vol. 1, Issue 6, 1996, edited by Michael Wysmierski. 2.
