An Interview with Donnie Blessing, Southern Ohio Section Director for MUFON

by Brent Raynes

Donnie Blessing is the Southern Ohio Section Director for the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON). Recently she also founded and directs the Southern Ohio Alien Abduction Research (S.O.A.A.R.) organization (website: www.anomalyresponse.org/soaar/) She has been on the popular Coast To Coast radio program with George Noory, has appeared on “UFO UPDATE LIVE!” which is broadcast in the Cincinnati area, and one of her cases has appeared on the Sci-fi Channel. Donnie can be reached at 513-681-4077, or you can email her at ufosatnight@aol.com.

Editor’s Note: This interview was initially conducted back in November 2004. Sadly, Donnie Blessing’s friend Kenny Young, mentioned in this interview, recently passed away. Nonetheless, his website can still be accessed.

Editor: Please tell me about yourself, your work, your interests, and how you became involved in studying UFOs?

Donnie Blessing: I’m now retired from my job. At this point, I’m just a 54 year old housewife with a lot of enthusiasm for the subject. I was a librarian for many years with the Clermont County, Ohio public library system. I became interested in the subject of UFOs when I was about 12 years old. I read everything I could get my hands on about the subject. Since that age, I have always felt that UFOs were real, even though I have never seen one myself. I always wanted to become more involved but my interest had to take a back seat to my career. I would have never had time to go out and investigate the subject and spend the time like I do now on it.

So, when I retired I began an immediate search for someone who could help me get started. I went on the Internet and found Mr. Kenny Young. His website is: http://home.fuse.net/ufo/

Kenny is now a dear friend and he really showed me the ropes as to how to go about investigating and researching the subject of UFOs. I then joined MUFON. After a local presentation of my work I was approached by Mr. Bill Jones, Ohio State Director for MUFON and asked if I would like to be Section Director. I felt very honored since I was still fairly new to UFO research at the time. That was almost four years ago and things have really taken off since then. I still work with Kenny. Please go to the website above and go into free videos. You will see the work I have done for TV. I have been on Coast to Coast with George Noory and Peter Davenport of NUFORC. Kenny was on with me also. The Pierce Township case of the firemen has been featured on the Sci-fi channel.

Editor: What kinds of cases have you personally worked on that perhaps have most impressed you as credible and significant?

Donnie Blessing: Well, the Pierce Township case in Clermont County, Ohio where I interviewed a fireman who claimed that he and several other firemen saw a UFO in the middle of the road that just disappeared in front of them. It is a very good case. (Check out the video for more details) As a matter of fact, it was the first case I ever investigated and it sill holds for me as one of the top cases I’ve done.

Last year, Kenny and I investigated a case in Morehead, Kentucky. A college professor claims to have seen a UFO come down near his home. At the same time, several people heard a woman screaming bloody murder in the same location. That to me, is a top case in my book. The witnesses to this were, I feel, reliable. (Please check out the video for that one too). I directed that video. The police and fire rescue wee involved in that.

About five months ago, I decided to broaden my research and go into abduction research. It also has also held a high interest in me. To date I have spoken to 15 people who claim abduction. Of those, 6 have been regressed with positive results. I work with Peggy Gorsuch who is the hypnotherapist. She has 15 years of experience under her belt. The 6 people I mentioned are her first experiences with possible abductees. She tells me that she is thrilled to be doing this type of regression. She has done past life regressions. I also work with a new comer to the field of UFO abduction research, Mrs. Sharon Phelps. She recently made news when she photographed lights above a crop circle in this area in September. She also investigates hauntings. She, along with Peggy are wonderful assets to my research.

Editor: From your own investigations and research, have you arrived at any conclusions that you most favor regarding the UFO puzzle?

Donnie Blessing: That is always a tough question. There are so many variables. No two regressions have all the same elements. UFO sightings differ in by how people perceive them. I think perceive is the key word here. You can have two people looking at an object in the sky and they both will tell you something a little different about what they see. I think 95% of UFOs are IFOs, identifiable objects. It’s that 5% that holds my attention. Now whether this 5% is coming from another world or are experimental aircraft or something else, I just don’t know. You can guess, you can theorize, but I think it’s wrong to make statements that you “know.” I’d rather present my findings on that 5% and let the public decide what they think is going on. With abductions I do the same thing. I present the stories on my website, sometimes with questions. Example: Was so and so an alien in another life? I let the person reading the story come to their own conclusions. My conclusion? I think “something” is going on. Too many people see UFOs. Too many people claim abduction for it all to be hoaxes. I don’t think they are doing it for attention or fame.

No one I have talked to has wanted money or recognition in exchange for their stories. As a matter of fact, not many even want their names mentioned.

Editor: What do you think the future may hold for mankind with regards to UFOs?

Donnie Blessing: I do hope that the Disclosure Project keeps pushing for the government to come forward with what they know. I think that is our only hope for answers unless who or whatever is out there decides it’s time for us to know.
