The UFOs and David Bowie

“My UFO experience evolved over a 4 day time span.

Day 1: My first sighting occurred one evening in March 1977. While watching the Six Million Dollar Man on TV, I glanced out the window and saw an unusually bright star. It was about 30degrees up from the horizon, and startled me when it began to move. I grabbed a pair of binoculars, and saw the ‘star’ was cigar shaped and emanating various colors(red, blue, green). Little black dots darted all around the object. Family members then took a look with the binoculars and confirmed the strange sighting. Afterward we each drew a picture of what was seen. All drawings were alike. An hour later the ‘mother-ship’ dropped lower on the horizon to about 15 degrees in the N.NW sky, turned orange and disappeared.

Day 2: No trace of the UFO.

Day 3: While leaving a store in the evening, I looked up to the sky and once again saw the mother- ship, in the south-southwestern sky. I rushed home and watched it for awhile, then decided to call the local TV news station. The station had received a few calls about the UFO, and suggested I call an observatory. (The observatory was closed) Once off the phone I noticed the ship was a little closer. It then turned orange and disappeared.

Day 4: After my evening class at Oakland Community College, in Farmington Hills, Michigan, I went to the cafeteria to kill some time while waiting for a friend’s class to end. It was almost 9:30 p.m. and I stepped outside, hoping to catch a glimpse of the mother-ship. Unbelievably the ship was around and so much closer, though the baby-ships were nowhere in sight. I ran back inside and convinced six people to take a look at the UFO. Once outside, the ship had gone. Disappeared, we began to head back inside when suddenly from behind one of the campus buildings came the baby- ship. It first zipped toward us, then slowed and seemed to float until it stopped and hovered above us, within 50 feet. My first view of the saucer was head-on. It’s headlights glared a bright white light. The gun-metal gray metallic ship was scratched and dusty. A circular row of multi-colored lights in a glass like casing, rotated like a strobe along its bottom. There were two portholes near the middle of the ship, which were black yet reflective. (Reminding me of a 2-way mirror) As I peered into the portholes desperately searching for an alien being, all I could see was the reflection of lights in the courtyard bouncing off their blackened, and slightly scratched surface. The saucer was roughly 14 feet in diameter, with a depth of no less than 8 feet. While the ship silently hovered I noticed a seam with large round rivets, that ran along it’s rear, from top to bottom. It amazed me how similar alien construction techniques were to ours. There were no other discernable features on the craft. After about 60 seconds, the ship slowly turned to the right and accelerated until it disappeared beyond a clump of trees. I stupidly tried to chase after it, and screamed ‘Take me with you...come back.’ But it was gone. I felt so rejected, as though I had failed to measure up to their standards, or wasn’t worthy of their time. The entire episode was so surrealistic, as though everything had taken place in slow motion. (It didn’t) I felt like I was in a movie, and kept saying to myself ‘This can’t be real.’ So many thoughts raced through my head. I wondered if the ship’s metal was known to us and if not, I had the privilege of viewing a metal that was truly extraterrestrial. I also checked my watch and was disappointed there had been no time lapse.

Afterward, I went to the school radio station WORB FM, with one other witness, and together we delivered our story on the air ‘live.’ Later that night, my friend and I drove to a club in Ann Arbor, Mich., (a 30-minute drive) and I looked up to the sky and thought I saw the little ship following us, but after awhile it left?

A few days after the sighting, I had a premonition about David Bowie, who was to appear in concert with his pal Iggy Pop, within 3-weeks. I suddenly just knew that Bowie was going to stop by a little flea bag of a club, on the east-side of Detroit, after his performance. One friend believed me, so after the concert, we made a bee-line for the club. An hour later, Bowie and Iggy waltzed in. To this day, I have no idea what prompted the premonition.

It’s interesting to note that David Bowie starred in ‘The Hunger,’ a movie based on the book written by world famous abductee, Whitley Strieber. I often wonder if Strieber had anything to do with the casting of Bowie in the movie.”
