Encounters With the Unknown

compiled by Brent Raynes

Exclusive personal narratives of men and women from all walks of life detailing their first-hand experiences with unexplained phenomena (i.e., extrasensory perception, UFO encounters, contacts, ghosts, hauntings, Bigfoot sightings, angels, demons, etc.). These detailed accounts are taken from our own case files and correspondences, as well as those collected by the UFO Contact Center International.

Childhood Encounters that led to UFO Investigations

Back in 1974-5, I engaged in a brief period of correspondence with a man, who at the time, was assigned to military duty (U.S. Navy) as I was back around that time. This person was very interested in instrumented scientific methods of verifying/documenting the UFO presence. He had read a letter to the editor that I had written to a magazine, which was how our correspondence was initiated.

I asked him how he became interested in such matters, to which he recalled two specific childhood incidents:

“Experience #1. Place: suburb of Orlando Florida, in a shack type home. The time of the event took place in terms of hours is unknown, except it was very late at night. I was drawn out of a deep sleep by some attracting high pitched humming. Looking out a window after guessing what had wakened me, I saw an object that is termed today as an unidentified flying object!

It was hovering over a house sideways to us. It was egg shaped, with nothing special about it except a glowing bright white light it was emitting. At time it would emit a little blue light as it moved closer towards our house, but never closer than about 50 to 60 feet.

I seemed to feel a part of myself attracted towards it! But another part, which is obvious, was fear of bodily harm. I, at the time, was only a kid but the memory of that event, to forcing myself to go to sleep and forget. But never really, except to become more interested in the subject matter of UFOs.

Experience #2. August of 1966 was encountered while moving from an area farther from Orlando, a place called Lake ‘Mary Jane.’ But that’s not going to change what happened, which was going back to the house we had moved out of and getting something I forgot. A book was the reason, but when I came to the house I remembered that I did not forget anything. (This area was very uninhabited...enough to make a ghost story or two) So I returned to catch up with the stationwagon with my mother and two sisters when (as) if by real shock time seemed to slow down. I did too but I was able to think separate from physical what was going on, which I didn’t have the slightest notion why.

This (is) far fetched, but anyhow as things slowed up I saw what looked like a fog in some bushes and trees (with some sparkling light taking shape) take shape into a man about the same distance away as the UFO was at the time. This person or whatever held out its hands and spoke to me in a warm and gentle voice saying be calm. I became calm and this person seemed (to) look right through me, until after a little while time backlashed, and reclaimed what had passed in a swift motion. Regaining myself I started back to the car only to get in and shiver with fear, which no one can understand but me. Brent, remember I was at this time eleven and had no knowledge of telepathy, which was used when being spoke too.”

Though our correspondence did not last, I was later to learn that in 1990 he had contacted UFOCCI and was still pursuing his instrumented efforts. He was then living in Colorado. His interest concerned various possible means of communication with UFO intelligences, including telepathy, light beam communications, something called a “Tensor Beam,” short wave radio, etc.
