An Interview with Tennessee UFO abductee Patsy Wingate by Brent Raynes, with Sandy Nichols (of the Alien Research Group) Portions of Patsy Wingates incredible accounts have appeared in articles by ufologist Don Worley in Englands leading UFO magazine Flying Saucer Review, as well as in Ann Druffels book, How To Defend Yourself Against Alien Abduction, and my own just published book, Visitors From Hidden Realms. Here for the first time, however, is an exclusive interview with Patsy Wingate that covers the main and most significant experiences she was able to remember after several hours of conversation and discussion on the matter. Patsy, age 47 and the mother of three, presently resides near Knoxville, Tenn. Editor: I understand you recently had a possible MIB-type encounter? Patsy Wingate: My son and I decided to go to this place in La Follette, Tennessee, called The Buck or Two, a very good store where everything is just a dollar. I needed some new vitamins. So we went up there and had a really good day, and on the way back my son Patrickright at first he didnt say anythingbut then he said, Gee mom, look behind us. Theres something back there. Theres a car back there. I got a glimpse of it just before it cut off of the main Interstate onto another road in front of us. It was a pale blue car with black bumpers, and there were two men, wearing strange uniforms sitting in it. They were kind of a khaki color, and they had really flat pale faces, and when they cut off the road all you could see on their plate was 222. Nothing else. Patrick, he got a really good look at them, they had dark hair, and he said they werent normal. And their car was not like a regular car. Have you ever seen that movie The Car? Its got a big black car in it thats squared off and this car was pale blue, and it was squarelike a big square car with a flat square top. Sandy Nichols: Like an old continental? Patsy Wingate: Yeah! Thats it! An old continental. Yup. Anyhow when that car cut off Patrick was really floored and he said, You know mom I dont know who it is thats following us around, and that evening we came in about 7 oclock I got one of those calls where nobody would say anything right after we walked in the door. Right after you guys showed up (interview date 05/30/04) we got one of those calls where nobody was saying anything, and I guess they just wanted to let me know that they knew that I had company. That was the extent of that. As for that rod thing, I guess it has been about 8 or 9 years ago I saw on television pictures of these things that had legs, that were sort of like centipedesexcept that they were waving up and downand they supposedly couldnt be seen by the naked eye, but they were on video tape. A guy claimed that they were like a natural life formation or something, on that show, but I never did see anymore about it. Then one evening, Larry came in and laid down on the bed. It was late November, right before the first of December (2003), and he was laying over in the corner looking at a magazine and I sat down on the bed and was just talking to him, and then all of a sudden that thing shows up right above my chandelier and I hear like a woa like that, and it comes down and fliesin essence coming down it just disappears out of existence and then it goes right behind my head and it puffs my hair up in the back. I said, Larry, did you see that? He said, Yes, I saw it. I said, Where did it go? What was it? He said, I dont know, but I could see like those leg things and how it was waving up and downlike, youve seen these things under the ocean like an eel moves, you know? Well thats the way it was moving, and it shocked me. I just wasnt expecting it. Editor: How big did it look? Patsy Wingate: How big is this? (Demonstrates with hands) Editor: Okay, about six inches. Patsy Wingate: Yeah, about 5 or 6 inches long. It was dark but I couldnt seen anything except all those little tentacle things that was like a fringe all the way around the main body of it. I felt a hostile feeling coming off of it. Like it wanted to get me becauseI dont knowit actually displayed a feeling of anger that just came off of it. If it had had some kind of teeth or something, I felt like it would have bit me. I didnt see it anymore, but Layla was standing out here in the front yard the week before she left (she moved to California) and even though she couldnt see anything at all it was something that fluffed her hair up and went woa like that, and she was standing in the middle of the yard out there. That was about a week after it happened to me, around like the first of December. What is so strange is that not only did my husband run off then my daughter went off too, and Ive been looking for reasons why this happened, and those are the only things that I can connect the two together. Sandy Nichols: Let me ask a question about the men in black. There were two men, right? Patsy Wingate: Yes. Sandy Nichols: Did you notice how they were dressed? Patsy Wingate: Yes, they were dressed in some kind of strange uniform. You know how like when you see German soldiers back during World War II? They were like that, sort of. Khaki color. To me they were. There were some strange emblem things on their shirts, but see I only got a few seconds glimpse of them sitting in that car, and they were like right up on our bumper, and then I noticed that car was an unusual blue. It wasnt like a dark blue. It was like a very pale blue, like what you see in the sky. ..And they had black bumpers on their car. Editor: And what about the color of their hair? Patsy Wingate: Well, Patrick says their hair was dark looking. He said he had been watching them for several minutes, and I only saw them for just a few secondsenough to see them without really making a lot of heavy observation. But it did seem like their hair was dark colored, so I cant swear it was dark brown or black, but their hair was dark. Sandy Nichols: Were they wearing hats? Patsy Wingate: Not these people. Sandy Nichols: What about glasses? Patsy Wingate: No. Their faces looked like white plastic. Thats what it looked like. Editor: And they were expressionless? Patsy Wingate: Yeah, they didnt have no expression. They werent moving either. They were just sitting stiff. Editor: Looking straight ahead? Patsy Wingate: Right. Staring straight ahead, and when they cut off of the Interstate and then we could see their plate, it was 2 2 2, and that was all that was on the plate. Editor: Was it a Tennessee license plate? Patsy Wingate: No, they didnt have no Tennessee, no government, no anything. Just 222. Sandy Nichols: Was that on the front or the back? Patsy Wingate: On the back. Sandy Nichols: And there was nothing? Just the license plate with 222 on it? Patsy Wingate: Right. And the bumpers that went around it, they seemed to wrap around the sides of it, and it was just solid black. A strange looking car. Very strange. Sandy Nichols: 222 is significant for abductions because they have 1111, 1212, 111, 222. Patsy Wingate: 1003 is the one that gets me. For twenty-five years I would go to the clock and every time it would be 10:03. Maybe thats significant for me and this situation with like 222, that might mean something for Patrick because see Patrick saw it longer than I did, and my son he wont talk about those things because he has horrible nightmares over itover things that have happened to him when he was little. Ill never forget he said he got abducted out of his bed and they put him on a table that was spinning around and around in a circle and they told him that heaven was at the center of the universe and that one day they were going to take him there. Thats what they told to Patrick when he was really little. He was only like five years old and he had never seen anything about it, plus I tried my very best to never talk about stuff like that. Editor: This reminds me of the experience you said that you had on a beach, where there was a green glowing object and there was a jogger, and you gave the object to him. Could you tell us about that? Patsy Wingate: I guess I must have been about 26 to 28, somewhere in there. Larry and I went to the Gulf of Mexico and we had just had Patrick and Layla, and Cory was born, he was just a little tiny baby. Well, we went to Florida and went to the Gulf sidewed never been to the Gulf side beforeI hadntand it was beautiful. The next morning after we got there I got up really earlyabout 5 oclock in the morning, and went out onto the beach and I walked down the beach, I guess about quarter of a mile, and all of a sudden here comes this guy jogging, in the dark you know, and all of a sudden thats how we found that thing in the water. It was glowing. It was still dark. The water was coming upthe tide was a little bit highand it brought it up out of the water to us, and I just reached down and picked this green thing up, because it had a glow in it and I thought.. Editor: Did it have a shape to it? Patsy Wingate: Yes, it was just oval shaped. It looked like and felt like a smooth stone, but it had like a glow inside of it and it was clear, and whenever I saw that I thought Wow, whats that? And that guy stops and he got so attracted to it. I said, Hey, look at this. The guy just looked at it and said, Gee, whats that? Like me, and I dont even know why I handed it to him. I said, Hey, youd better keep this. It might be something. He goes, Yeah, it might be something, like that, and then he just started running again. I guess he didnt want to break his stride in jogging, and he kept going on up the beach. Then, all of a suddensee I like to talk to God all the time when Im out by myselfI looked out across the ocean because I knew that dawn would be coming soon. I looked out there, and all of a sudden it got light and then I saw this huge rock rise up out of the ocean, and then you could hear this sound like, Woa, woa, woa, woa, woa, like that. Editor: The UFO sound? Patsy Wingate: Yes. It made me think of a record slowed down really low. Well when I heard that the stars came out and started swirling around that rock. I mean, they were everywhere. Editor: Now when you say a rock, how big, what shape? Patsy Wingate: It was kind of pyramid shaped, sort of, and it just grew upthe waves that came up around it were humongous. I was terrified that I was going to get swallowed by just the waves that were coming up around this rock. When the stars came up I saw the symbol of infinity. You know what that looks like. Its like a figure eight, but it was like a gold bar and it was the shape of like a figure eight. It appeared before me and then suddenly my spirit just went right into thatI mean it just went right to it, and I heard this sound telling meit was like a voice inside of metelling me that I was meeting God. This was God. Well, I could see like this little tiny spark and I was looking down on itI felt hugeI felt like I was a giant looking down on this little tiny spark, and then suddenly I became that tiny little thing and then I thought God was like looking down on me, and when that happenedOh, see I remember feeling nowits coming back to me like how I feltI felt guilty that I thought Gee, Gods gonna punish me for having my eye on Him. I felt like I was a scientific observer, in some respects, like I was observing God. I felt like I shouldnt do this to God. Then I realized that I was that weak, tiny little vulnerable something, and then I knew that life began with a spark instead of with a Big Bang, like people had always taught that all life came from that one tiny spark. Then I was just standing there and it was daylight and I walked back, and I had been gone for like an hour or two hours, or maybe even longer, and I dont even know where the time went. I only walked maybe like a fourth of a mile and it should never have taken that long to have gone that far. But apparently whatever happened to me after I picked that thing up it lasted awhile, but that was one of the very first really profound things that happened to me in all of this situation. Editor: The spark was like on the ground? Patsy Wingate: No, no. See when the water came up out of the ocean it just rolled up on the beach. It was like a rock. It was round and oval, it was like almost the size of an egg, not quite, it was clear and smooth, and it had like this glowing thing in the center of it. It was green. Editor: But like the spark aspectyou said you were looking at a spark, and you were looking down on a spark? Patsy Wingate: Yeah, whenever I saw that symbol it was like a bar of gold, with an edge to it. It was out in front of me. Then I saw this sparkI felt like I was huge all of a sudden, looking down on that spark. I thought, Boy, Im observing this. What is this, and yet I know what it is, and then suddenly I was that, and then we just (snaps fingers) like that together. It was like my soul traveled and I was like one with God. People talk about those experiences where they become one with God, and then all of a sudden there it was. It was one of the most profound experiences I have ever had in my entire life. I kept a lot of that to myself over the years because you know people say Gee, you know the only time you can meet up with God is when you die,and in some ways I guess that might be truethat a person has to die to their own selfthey have to give up their life in some respects if they want to receive their life. Editor: One of the other profound but disturbing experiences too that you had was about two weeks after the incident where you had been having abductionsI think it was in 1985and the three greys entered your bedroom and you snapped the neck of the one in the middle. You didnt mean to do that but you shook itgrabbed its shoulders I guess? Patsy Wingate: Well when I grabbed what came in my bedroomlet me just say this muchIm not a violent person. I really wasnt planning on grabbing anything and killing anything, and I wasnt planning on experiencing that. I just wasnt ready for it. I just wasnt expecting anything like that, but also at that time I was pregnant and I didnt like what was bothering me, and I was ill. Larry kept the heat up too high in the winter time. That was it. It was just because Larry had had the heat up I felt ill and then when they started coming into my bedroom I was really angry and I didnt want to be bothered. Especially while I was pregnant. Editor: And you heard that sound that the UFOs make. Patsy Wingate: Yes. At first we heard that Woa, woa, woa, weird sound, a humming noise, and then see Larry had slipped up and turned off a bunch of the lights and I like to sleep with the lights on, and that lightthat green lightwhenever you see that light come through the windowit was really somethingand they walked right out of that light into my bedroom, and I could see them. And when I grabbed that oneI wasnt thinking about killing itI was just going to stop them from trying to abduct me, and when I did that I was awake and its neck (snaps fingers) just like that it snapped like a twig. I didnt dream that I was going to do something like that. These things walked together in unison, and I have never seen anything walk like that. Some people suggested that this was like robots walking, but I mean it was even more exact than any robots. This was like exact duplicate almost. I noticed this strange M shape. I would see these M shapes on the wall in the dark sometimes, and I noticed that M shape in their legs, and their legs they just interlocked together. Editor: As they walked? Patsy Wingate: Yeah. As they walked. And whenever I grabbed it and then when they backed up into that light together those things had a look on their facesthose two, when they dragged that thing back into the lightthey cupped their arms up under its arms, and when they dragged that thing back into the light they had a strange look on their faces, and I wasnt expecting that because see thats why I dont think these are robotsbecause robots wouldnt have expressions. Editor: They had a look of surprise is what you told me earlier, right? Patsy Wingate: Yeah. I mean it. They normally whenever I have seen this stuff before there was such a deep stare about them that you justyou have that engulfing feeling when they look at you. They become you and you become them. Youre like one, you see? Thats why I think these things wound up showing up. I had that experience on the beach before I had this happen, and whenever I felt that feeling of them trying to take control of me I didnt like it. I kept telling them, Hey, Im asleep. If theyre gonna read my mind I was thinking, By golly heres somethingread thisIm asleep. Editor: It was about a week or two after there was the incident that you thought might have been a retribution with the bell shaped object? Patsy Wingate: Yes, see after I killed this thingI know I killed it because I instantly felt a feeling of like, Oh oh, I did some major damage here. I dont think they would have retreated if I had not killed it. So they immediately backed up because I had this feeling like, Hey, how did she do that? That was what hit my mind. Then about a week later, and this is my last really close encounter of like things trying to abduct me feeling was with this thing in this bell shaped like UFO. It was late at night and I had sat up on the foot of my bed because even though I didnt hear anything really I could feel it coming up, and I expected something to be out there. Well, immediately I felt like a telepathy with whatever it was, and it was just like someone had torn a hole, there where the window was, and everything disappeared. When it came up I know that it was solid because it bumped my swing. I had a porch swing and it bumped that swing up against the wall. It went bang, like that you know. I looked out the window and there it was coming up. All of a sudden I was just one with this thing. My mind was just linked with it, and I reached my handmy hand just went right through the wall. I used my left hand. Im a right handed person but for some reason when I put my hand out I used my left hand. Thats not usual for me. I dont know whyif thats significant or not. Then when I touched it I could feel that it was moist feeling. It felt like a cows tongue. That type of moistness. A big animals tongue. Rough but yet soft at the same time, and sort of damp feeling. Well I thought, boy this is bizarre. Even for me having strange things happen, I thought, This is really strange. I could see this thing sitting in there that looked exactly like a praying mantis, and the reason I say it looked like a praying mantis was it had those same kind of eyes and it had a really sharp face that came down in the front with a little bitty mouth, and its hands were up on the ceiling of the inside of this thing. It had its legs crossed in a yoga position. I said to it, What is this ship made of? and it said, This ship is made from the flesh and the souls of evil dead men. Well I immediately started questioning this thing because I felt like anything that looked like thisthat looked like a big bugwhats it trying to decide about mankind, why does it have charge over people. What gave it the right to entrapwhat I call entrap the spirit of people inside of this object. I could feel people, their spirits, trapped in that object. Well, it started hissing at me whenever I told it that I was going to have God get it and I started saying, In the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit you leave me, and then it hissed and got really mad you knowthat type of thing like one day you will be mine type of deal, and I said, No, thats not true because I belong to God. I was fighting it with my spirit and with my mind, and that thing it backed away, and it went like that (snaps fingers). It got out of there. But that thing never did light up like you would see UFOs in the sky. A lot of UFOs. It never did have a light come out of it, or anything like that. It was dark, but you could see it in the moon light, and you could see that it had an elephants type creaseyou know, those creases that are on elephants skinon that object. It was like creases, and whatever that thing was I was glad it was gone. After that we had seen this guy walking up and down in front of the house, the guy with the black pants and white shirt smoking a cigarette, and this guy he was grinning the whole time, and where this guy came from Ill never know because he didnt have a car. And what was strange was Billie Lafortee, shes still alivebut her husband Woodrow is dead nowhe was a policeman. He walked down to their house at the endwe lived on a dead end street. One day Im gonna have to take you to Eastern Kentucky. If you want to find out the answers on a lot of this stuff, believe me, if youll go to some place like eastern Kentucky it wont take long because whatever is there thats like an areaI mean itit feels like its a vacuum where theres no life almost. It has the strangest feeling. Its where its void of everything. You dont see birds or hear them singing there hardly. You dont hardly see any kinds of insects or anything. You have this feeling like, Oh my God, this place is so depressed. Theres nothing here, and its not a matter of not having any stores. You dont feel that around here like its dead or anything, but in this area up there it is unbelievable. When you go into certain parts of West Virginia you get the same feeling. Just like youve walked into an areaa dead zoneor something like that. Editor: And then it wasnt too long after that incident that Layla, as a young girl, observed you being attacked by MIBs? Patsy Wingate: Well, see I have no memory of this. I wish that I could remember. I keep struggling to remember this happening because see Patrick and Layla they were likeoh Layla was about four and a half and Patrick was about five and a half. They played together all of the time. They were like twins. They climbed up in this dogwood tree that was right in front of our house. They loved to climb in that tree because it was so low to the ground, and it had nice, lovely limbs that were thick for them to sit on. Well, Layla told me about it the day that it happened. They were sitting in that tree and I was standing on the porch with a broom, sweeping the porch off. She said that these three men came gliding down the side walk toward her and Patrick, and that they looked at them and Layla was like, Oh my God, because their faces looked like they were made out of white plastic and they were wearing forties type hats and black suits. She had noticed that their feet werent moving right, and then she looked and she said that they were floating about a foot off of the ground, and she said then I started screaming, Children, get in here! That I was trying to get them out of the treeto get Layla and Patrick out of the tree. She said they quickly floated up to me and when they put their hand on my arm that I just suddenly calmed down and that I sat down in a chair that we had on the porch. Then she noticed that they held out this briefcase and when they sat it down she said that they sat it down on some kind of table or something that just came out of the bottom of itI just remembered about thatI had forgotten about that for years. She said this little table came out of the bottom of it and that they reached in and that they took out this hypodermic (needle) and stuck it in my arm, and it was like a really big heavy tube that they filled it all up with my blood and she said that after they put it back in there that they just glided on away, and she said that she and Patrick never did get down out of the tree until they left. They just stayed up there, just watching the whole time, and that one of the men looked over at Laylathey looked at her sort of like dont worry kind of thought came in her head. Everything was fine, and then they had like disappeared. And Layla said this to me whenever she was really little. I was amazed that she would even come up with this. She said, You know mom, those men thought that you were special. I said, Why do you think that? Because I dont see myself anyway like that. She said, Yeah, but that guy he thought itI knew that he thought it. I said, Layla, who do you think they were? She said, I dont know, but Archie sure was growling our dog Archie. Archie was a dog that would bite you. She said that Archie never ran over to them, that Archie went all the way over to the corner of the yard and sat down and watched from a distance. That was not like that dog at all. Editor: You had said earlier that there was a mark on your arm afterwards, even though you had no memory there was like a mark where like a needle had punctured your skin on your left arm. Patsy Wingate: It was bruised. Yeah, on my left arm. Right there where people take blood out of your arm. Right there on that vein. Editor: Now that was after the bell shaped UFO incident? Patsy Wingate: Yes. Editor: About how long do you think? Patsy Wingate: Well, see this has been so long ago I cant put that in a time frame to where I can pin point within days or weeksI just know that sequence wise that these were the steps that it happened in. If you had asked me 20 years ago I might have remembered. Editor: The sound you have described, when the UFOs are near, and your family has heard it too, and you have described like a magnetic feeling in your face, like around where the sinuses are, up above the eyebrows, and down the nose. Patsy Wingate: Oh yes. In my cheeks, and above my teeth, in the upper portion of my mouth, and right below my lower teeth, but not on the sides of my face, but right above my browthat areaI feel that feeling in there. So many things were happening to me at that time. Calls in the night where there would be like this strange woman and mans voice blended togethertheyd say stuff to me like You know youre one of us. I didnt believe it. I was taking this stuff with a grain of salt and Id say, Well who is us? Well you come with us and you will find out who us is type of thing, and Id just like hang that phone up just as quick as possible. Larry and I were different types of people. We argued all day one day about the Christians in Rome. He said that the Christians had committed suicide and I said that goes against Christian beliefs. Christians dont want to kill themselves. They dont want to throw themselves to the lions and martyr themselves so that theyll go to heaven. Thats ridiculous. Because God has given you the sense to know that the greatest gift He has given you is your life. Well, see we argued all day long about that. He (said) Oh I know that they killed themselves and I said, No, they didnt. Well that nightnow this sounds really crazywhen I went to bed I wasnt asleep at all, and I didnt get scared or excited, but this figure of a monk comes up to me, in the dark, and says...Well see I dont know any Latin, okay, and I didnt know what it was, but I reached over to Larry and I shook him, right away, and I said to Larry, Larry, theres this strange figure in here and it said Quo Vadis what does Qui Vadis mean? He was in his sleep sort of and he said, Where are you going in Latin. Like that, you know. Well, at that time this voice that whenever it came out of whatever this figure was I had the feeling that it was really ancient and it sounded like it was going through a really long tunnel. I felt like it had come from that time, when the Christians were being martyred in Rome, and that voiceI mean I didnt know anything about Quo Vadis and what it represented. Don Worley asked me years ago what did I think that meant, Where are you going? And I immediately felt like, Where are you going in your Christian life? Are you getting away from this? Where are you going? Youre getting away from me. And I was saying, Yeah, Im getting away from you. (Patsy then laughs) I thought it was the craziest thing I had ever heard of in my life, a monk just showing up like that in the middle of the night. I couldnt see any face. Editor: How about thatwas this around that same timeyou saw a being and you went to a window and there was like this owl face outside? Patsy Wingate: Oh, that was years later. Whenever we moved from North CarolinaI had had some of the most profound UFO experiences in my life happened in North Carolina. My family and I saw three giant helicopters that we know could never have been made by human beingsthese things were humongousand there was like this green thing that looked like a plasma energy that came right out of the center of these three helicopters that were flying in formation. After it happened, that night everybody went in the house and so help me God there were cows across this sandy fieldwe lived at this place called Galmore (?) Farms, and they had cattle in the woods, and those pine trees over there are humongous. Well those cows started screaming like people. I mean it. Those cows, instead of mooing they were like oooh, oooh! They were like desperate. There was a fire in the woods, and you could see a big beam of light going down in those woods, and like smoke coming up out of there, and those cows were screaming. Gosh, that place was unbelievable. Then when we moved back to Knoxvilleyou want to know about this owl thingsee my daughter and I had been seeing this dark figure standing outside the window, and this figure had boots and a dark cape. I guess thats where the idea of vampires come from, because this thing was pale in the face and it kept standing outside of my daughters window. Well one night I was laying back thereLarry wouldnt sleep in the same room with me because he kept saying there was something growling in his face. I was laying in the bed and all of a sudden I felt something lying next to me and I felt like my breath was being sucked out of my mouth. I mean it, it was just like everything I had inside of me was being sucked right out through my mouth, and I opened my eyes slightly because I was fighting it. I started praying immediately and then all of a sudden when I start to pray this figure gets up off of the bedI raise myself up and I see himtheres just a faint image of him, but its dark, and it walks right through the window and then suddenly my eyes were just trainedtheres this huge white owlabout this big (editor estimates about three feet as Patsy holds her hands apart to demonstrate size of the owl). It was big. I might be exaggerating a little bit because in my mind it looked huge to me. But it was sitting on that tree and he walked right into that owl and its eyes were glowing red, and it just flew away. The most incredible.. Sandy Nichols: I saw a seven foot owl. Patsy Wingate: You did? Sandy Nichols: There was a grocery bag at first I thought in the middle of the road and then it turned into being a seven foot owl and it went straight up. Oh, let me ask you a question. This feeling that you get in your face when the crafts are around you were indicating down here on your chin, in your mouth and everything. Patsy Wingate: Right here around my mouth. Sandy Nichols: How were your teeth being affected? Is it your teeth that you were feeling it in? Like the fillings or any bridge work that you might have? Patsy Wingate: Well not exactly. I feel it around where like the roots of my teeth should be and also up here where my cheekbones are, and right here across the bridge of my forehead. I could feel it just like if you tookyou know how like when you get metal shavings and you use a magnet and theyll stand up and move back and forth? Well, I could feel that pulling in my face. Whatever it was it was extremely magnetic and whatever is in my face must be magnetic too. Sandy Nichols: Or could it be like pressure? Patsy Wingate: No. This is some kind of magnetic something. Its like it has to be metal because you know as well as I do that unless it is some kind of a metal then it probably wouldnt be affecting me. And it didnt feel like it was wanting to pull my teeth out because see Ive got caps in my mouth and it didnt affect those and those are gold, and I have some stainless steel in here too and it didnt affect that either. But where it was at was just around my mouth, on my cheekbones, and right there, and I could feel that really just pulling on my face like it was going to pull it right through my skin. Very, very strong. Lets just imagine that you were in a circle and you were moving musical notes around in a circle and when it got closer to you its like a doppler effectyou can hear it coming toward you and then hear it going away. Well, whenever it got around then woa like that, when it came you could hear it going away and then when it came closer then I would feel it really strong. So whatever this was whenever it circled away it took that away from my face and then when it came backwhatever this magnetic thing had to be going in a circle becauselike I saidpart of it was like going away and then part of it was coming toward me, and I could tell the difference and I could hear the difference. Because whatever this object was it made a sound and then that very night it projected this symbol on my ceiling of like a fleur-de-lis. I heard a voice inside of my head say, This is your symbol and you are one with it. Well, that freaked me out but later I asked Larry the next day, What does this symbol mean? He said, It means royal blood of Christ. Well a lot of things started happening to me after thatand maybe its because Larry gave me that information then it was like able to back up some of it with what he had said to me because see I had no knowledge about anything. I must confess that Im quite dumb about a lot of things and I just didnt know about these symbols and stuff, and I was glad that Larry had been to a good college and knew about them because I just didnt know. So whenever I saw that fleur-de-lis thing on my ceiling I drew it for Larry and he told me thats what it was and that the royal family in France had adopted that symbol because they said that some of the people believed that some of Christs disciples went into France. After that happened that symbol appeared on my dresser. It was on there and we all like freaked out. Editor: You said that when you were a little girl, I guess in Oak Ridge, the incident where you described seeing the UFOthe silver object with the light coming off of it and afterwards there was the alien you were playing with that was like the one where you broke its neck? Patsy Wingate: Okay well actually that was in Clinton where we saw the one above the housing project, but at Oak Ridge, when I was 6 years old, thisof all of the things that has ever happened to me probably sticks out the most from my childhood. See we lived out on Waltham Lane in Oak Ridge. Well my parents owned half of like a duplex and the area there everybody used to have like these garbage cans inside of like picket fence things, and this little girl, who was a little fat girl, and I was a little bitty skinny girlwe played together. We just loved each other to death. I cant even remember her name now, but she and I were out in the streetit was a hot summer day. Well there was this huge thing that looked like a rock. At least thats what I saw in my head, a burnt piece of coal with pock marks in it and it was whistling, and it was going over. To the naked eye it looked bigger than a car this thing, it was so huge. Well this little girlwe were playing together and she ran up and grabbed me and she shook me as hard as she could and she said, What do you see? What do you see? I didnt say a word. My mouth was like wide open and my eyes must have gotten really big. But she couldnt see it, she couldnt hear it. Why she couldnt I dont know, but it had a profound effect on me. Some years later, whenever I was talking to Mr. Worley about it he claimed that there had been something in the newspapers in 1963 about a UFO that went over Oak Ridge and then went on into Missouri or some place and like crashed supposedly. I dont know if that was it or whether this thing was a huge meteor or what, but I know that it had to be something because that little girl couldnt see it. Sandy Nichols: Six years of age. Is that your first conscious recollection of seeing something? Patsy Wingate: Yes, and that probably and plus whenever I lived in North Carolina some things that happened to me there plus going on the beach and having that happen to me are probably some of the most profound. Editor: Was that moving as fast as like a meteor would have moved? Patsy Wingate: Whatever it was it was moving slow, and I watched it and it went about that speed (using her hand to demonstrate). So how fast would you say that is? Sandy Nichols: It depends on how high it is. Patsy Wingate: I dont know how high up because see when youre six years old what do you know? Editor: Even if youre not six a lot of people can misjudge something anyway. There were no sparks or smoke? Patsy Wingate: There was like a smoke coming off of it. But it had pock marks on it. Thats what struck me was Boy, that thing its got these scoop marks on it whatever it was and it was jagged shaped and my brother kept telling me, Gee Patsy, this thing had to be a big meteor that went over, and for years I thought that it might be just a meteor, but Mr. Worley told me that a lot of people had described this thing like that. Sandy Nichols: Were the pock marks symmetrical, were they here and there, or were they kind of like in a pattern? Patsy Wingate: They werent in a pattern exactly. They were just scooped out in different places. There wasnt a pattern to them. Sandy Nichols: What color was this thing? Patsy Wingate: Well it looked to me like a big piece of cinder, sort of, but when youre a child--I felt like it was really something specialI just got this feeling off of that thing that whatever it was had to be one of the most incredible things that could ever be. It just had a feeling that came off of it. Some years laterIll tell you the difference between this thing and what my husband and my children saw. We lived in Bristol, Tennessee, and we were driving down this place called Volunteer Parkway and my husband said, Look at that Patsy, and by golly I looked over and there was a cellular one phone tower blinking red, and right above itto the naked eye you could see this huge UFO with windows in this thing. And when it got right over the top of that phone tower that thing just blipped out of existence, it was gone. But this thing that was going over Oak RidgeI dont know what it wasbut if it had hit the earth, if it did hit the earth, it was so huge Im sure that it could have made a crater like that one out in Arizona. Editor: Was that object over the phone tower during the day? Patsy Wingate: It was in the evening. We had gone to Long John Silvers and we had got some fish. We had a van at that time and the kids were sitting back there bouncing up and down, and all of a suddenyou know, when I look back on it Larry he like showed me things that, whatever it was, it would tell him like Look. Just look here. You know. Anyway my husband said, Look at that, and the kids looked at it too. We all saw it. Even Cory. He was little. It was like, Wow! And this thing had windows in it. What is so strange about all of these UFO things is that all of them look different, you know it? All of them look different. They dont all look exactly the same. If they all looked the same then you might think whatever this is came from the same place. Sandy Nichols: But youve got to look at it too that if these things are part realas far as real I mean part alive and they could shape shift. Patsy Wingate: Well you know whats crazy? The one that we saw that went over the cellular one phone tower I didnt think about it as a living objectthat oneit had windows in it and it was more of a mechanical thing to me. It was more like when you looked at an airplane. You got that feeling that this is a created, man-made object. But the way that it blipped out of existence kind of made me think, Gee, do they have a cloaking device like Star Trek? Editor: Could it have just extinguished its lights? Patsy Wingate: No. No, it blipped out of existence. And see whenever I saw these other objects like that bell-shaped UFO and also other objects that just looked like a starbut you knew that they were alive. It could read your thoughts. It went beyond that thing that went over the cellular one tower. Whatever that object was, even if it was made by whoever that did these other things, you knew that it was created for the transportation of something. It wasnt created for the interaction between you and whatever, but whatever these other things are you definitely have the feeling of like onenesslike youre involved, okay? Its like yeah, guess what, we know what youre thinking. We want to talk to you. Do you want to talk to us? That type of thing. I dont know. It was the strangest feeling in the world because youre really attracted to whatever it is but yet youre also like, Well hey, I dont know if I want you to get so close. The feelings are very conflicting. I guess in some respects its very much a love/hate relationship. Sandy Nichols: Maybe its a survival instinct mode. Patsy Wingate: Maybe so. Yeah, because you feel this imminent feeling of danger like this is a spider and youre a fly. Editor: Speaking of that, how about the Mothman in the bubble? Patsy Wingate: Oh that. Listen. That thing. When we lived up in eastern Kentucky I saw this thing upstairs, and so did my children, in my house. It was big and it had wings and it had dark patches on it, but yet it had red patches too, and it was lying down and it had its hands out like that upstairs in my house. Well we didnt have any electricity in that house upstairs, and Patrick, Layla and Cory they were running like maniacs. They were little, you know, and they were running upstairs because their toy room was up there. Their tricycle was over in the corner and it was laying down next to their tricycle. Well, how it got in the house I dont know. It had to just like materialize through the wall or something. Its head had like sort of a very sharp oval face and it had its head turned to the side and it had eyeballs that were this big around and that looked like bicycle reflectors. (The size she indicated with her hands indicated about that of your average orangeeditor) It had big eyes. Well, you know how like in a flys eyes you can see those little criss-cross things? Well you could see those little criss-cross things in the light, when it would move slightly, you could see it reflecting in those eyes, and immediately I got horrified. It was like, Oh my God, Ive got to get out of the house. But then I thought, No, Im not going to let this thing think that Im afraid, so I sat down on the couch, I said a prayer while I laid there and looked at this thing in mortal terror. Sandy Nichols: And this thing was looking at you? Patsy Wingate: Yeah, and my children, and Patrick comes running down the stairsthey were all bare foot and it was like 25 or 30 degrees outside....Again Larry had the heat turned up sky high in the house. The kids, when they came down the steps, Cory, Patrick, and Layla they didnt say a word. They pointed at it. I said, Come on kids, lets go out on the porch for a little while. So we just ran out the front door and stood out on that porch in the cold, and I was bare foot. Finally I gave up. I was freezing to death and they were too. Larry was teaching at a community college at that time. He taught American government and political science, and when he came back home we told him about it. When we went back in the house it was gone. The next thing now, my friend Woodrow Lafferty, the policeman, he was getting ready to retire and was out there working on his carhe had an old Comet that he worked on all the timeand right across the street from me was a field owned by this guy named Tom Wilson, and he had already plowed it up because this was sometime in February and he was going to put out a garden. Well over there something just drew me like a magnet to that field and I said, Woodrow, look at this. There was a footprint in that dirt from something very heavy, but you could see it had something like a chicken spur...and these big claws. I showed it to Woodrow because I was like, Oh my gosh, where did this come from? and you could see that it was definitely a footprint of something. I just knew that it came from that thing that had been upstairs and I later showed it to Larry and he was like, Oh my God too. He didnt know what to think about it. But some years later, whenever we lived in Bristol, there was a lot of bad things that happened to me there and I couldnt explain them, but the day that we were moving away we went to this place called Rooster Front Park, We were getting ready to leave and we were saying our goodbyes to there. It was a beautiful day. I mean it was as clear as a bell outside. The sky was blue. All of a sudden, Larry says to me Look at that Patsy. I look up in the sky. I dont know what to think. Theres this bubble that is clear but theres that thing Id seen upstairs. It had its hands on the inside of that bubble and its legs like that and its wings sort of stretched out. It had wings kind of like a bat, and you could that was the shape of this thing in that bubble, and then it just floated away over the city and then disappeared. And I thought, Oh my God, what if that was what was bringing all of this bad. Larry, it floored him. He didnt know what to think about it and neither did I. Ive not seen it since but my daughter recently said she had seen this same thing out there in California at an oil refinery and that it was just flying near that oil refinery, that shot up like a rocket sort of. I said to her, Gee did it flap its wings? she said, No, it just shot up like a rocket. But I did not see this thing in flight. I saw it in the bubble and I saw it laying down on that floor upstairs. Ill never forget that night for as long as I live because the kids and I we were watching a little bit of TV and when we saw that we got so nervous we just didntwell, it was so shocking. Editor: Sure. How big did it look like it was? Patsy Wingate: Oh this thing is big. Now I dont understand where its feet were at because there was only like a space from here from where were sitting to my wall, so how many feet would you say that is? Sandy Nichols: About 6 or 7 feet. Patsy Wingate: Right. And it was laying at an angle and so it had to be about 7 feet tall and it had arms, when its arms were stretched out you could see that these wing things were like on the backs of its arms. It was laying down like this, its head at an angle, and it had these weird reflector eyeballs. Sandy Nichols: It was laying on its stomach. Patsy Wingate: Yeah. Sandy Nichols: Did it have a tail or something? Patsy Wingate: No, I didnt notice any kind of tail on this thing. I didnt notice thatthe eyeballs were scary enough without me trying to look.. Sandy Nichols: Where were its feet? Patsy Wingate: I couldnt see them. They had to be over in the corner. See there was a window there upstairs and like a bannister to keep you from falling down and then the steps went up like this and went back around into a corner. Why they made it that way Ill never know, because there was no closet space or anything over there, but when it was laying down its legs were at an angle so that they went over toward the corner, because it wouldnt have been able to lay straight down. Sandy Nichols: So it was kind of laying down in an L shape type pattern. Patsy Wingate: Yeah. Sort of. But I mean I didnt see its legs, whether or not they were straight or curled up or anything like that. I was just really taken a back by this thing, how it had a weird face. I couldnt see no features. I just noticed that its head was a really sharp oval and it had those eyeballs, and they were round. They were just like a bugs eyes, you get caught in the light, you know, and reflect back, and thats the way its eyes were. Sandy Nichols: The skin color and the texture of the skin. Patsy Wingate: See I did notice some of that. Even though once I saw it I was like ready to get the heck out of Dodge as people say. I noticed that it was red and burnt looking, like a burnt, smoky, dark, blended in with red sort of, and some people told me that four years ago they had seen it and it looked brown to them, but this thing looked like it had been in a smoky fireit got smoked. Just like if you had put somebody on a grill, you know what I mean, with that smoke on different pieces of meat, you know how it would get dark in places? And red still in other places? Thats the way it looked to me. But now as to the texture of it, I didnt look to see it that was wrinkly or smooth. You dont think about something like that whenever you see something thats even scarier than a horror movie. And what is so incredibly unbelievable about all of this stuff, even the things that whenever you have like what people call the good things happen, I dont even know where that terror came from because I had seen this guya space man. Now this is another part. This guy was outside my window floating in a blue beam of light that came down in front of my house. Well he was wearing a space suit, but it didnt have no hoses or holes in it, and he wore like a sun visor, but you could see the lower portion of his face, and he was beautiful. Had really sharp features, and he was just floating out there one night, and when I looked out the window and I saw that blue light with that guy floating in that blue light, it was like Oh my God, and he had this device in his hand, and he was pointing it at me and he was talking to my mind with this device. He said that that was an object from the future and he was from the future, and he showed me telepathically these men from a panel and they said that they had heard me having distress and that they found it amazing and that they had come to investigate and see, and they told me that they were from the future. And I guess thats where some people you know they talk about all of these strange things that happen and they think that maybe this is from the future. Well that was the one and only time. None of the rest of it said it was from the future. Whoever it was in the space suit, they looked exactly like us. Sandy Nichols: One more question about the Mothman. Any smell at all during the time you saw it, or when you first entered the house, or afterwards when you come back in? Patsy Wingate: Well you know I never really thought about that over the years. No one ever really asked me. But there was something like a burnt sulfur smell. I didnt smell anything when he was up there because I wasnt thinking about smells or anything, but whenever that disappeared later there was a kind of weird sulfur smell. See the only reason I know thats like a sulfur smell is that when I was a kid my mother made us eat sulfur and molasses. Sandy Nichols: Was it a wood floor or carpet up in that room? Patsy Wingate: It was a wood floor. Sandy Nichols: Were there any scratches on the floor, or any residue? Patsy Wingate: No, I didnt notice. I wouldnt even go upstairs for a week after I saw the thing. The kids tricycle was sitting over in that corner, and even Patrick and Laylawhom Im sure they forgot about it really quicklythey wouldnt even go over there and get that tricycle over in that corner. So I knew they had seen it. They didnt say anything about it, but they drew pictures of it later. They would sit around and draw that thing on a piece of paper, and they would draw them weird wings. I said to the kids, You drew some good pictures. What is that? | |
