X-Sightings: Recent UFO and Paranormal Reports

Compiled by Brent Raynes

January 21, 2007 near Anson, Maine. Three witnesses in a motor vehicle came to the Intersection of Route 234 and Horseback Road when they observed a silver oval shaped object “sitting perfectly still” over a small pond. An estimated 300 feet long, and less than a thousand feet away, the object appeared to be about 50 feet in thickness. At the top there was a reddish glow, and the entire surface seemed to have “markings or corrugations” that reminded one of the witnesses “of the old Jiffypop popcorn dome.” The object was silent, the sighting lasted for about 3 minutes, until the car began to roll slowly in front of some evergreen trees (that blocked the object for about ten seconds) and when they got past the trees the object was simply gone.

The next day, one of the witnesses returned to the pond and noticed there was a round hole in the ice, below where the UFO had hovered.

January 17, 2007 approx. 6:15 p.m. near Kelltown (Tift County), Georgia. Ufologist Billy Rachaels described the sighting: “It was flying at fairly low level. It had a lot of lights. It had a ring around the center of it, like the planet Saturn.” The sighting occurred along Highway 319 South.

January 3, 2007 8:58 p.m. Youngwood, Pennsylvania. Three witnesses in a motor vehicle witnessed a brilliant light in the sky. One described it as “oval shaped with a hump at the top and bottom.” Observation lasted for 3 to 4 minutes. They successfully took a picture of the object with a cell phone, after which the UFO vanished from sight.

January 2, 207 7:25 a.m. Mountain City, Tennessee. Motorist stopped in traffic waiting on traffic light to change and noticed a metallic disc shaped object in sky slowly moving westward underneath solid cloud cover. A motorist nearby also noticed it and they each rolled down their windows to talk. Then the UFO just disappeared.

December 22, 2006 12:15 a.m. Owego, New York. Witness named Monarca Merrifield reported: “Émy sister woke me out of my sleep to tell me she had just spotted a self-luminous, white light, round object hovering above a cornfield on Waits Road. It hovered in one spot for 10 minutes. As it started to move, it’s light turned to blue and red lights. Then it flew over her home and the lights turned off but the shape was visible against the stars. All of a sudden, it sped up and made a sound like a big ‘swoosh’ sound, then a sonic boom. She took a picture of it with her camera phone.”

December 19, 2006 approx. 11:15 p.m. Waynesboro, Tennessee. Eyewitness reported: “The light was circular, about the size of a water tower. My husband said before it came as close as our neighbor’s house it looked similar to a strobe light, but red to green. When it was over the adjacent house the light looked (this is hard to explain) like a lava lamp. I don’t know if you understand that, but it’s like the red and green never disconnected. The object was approximately 500 yards from our house when I saw it, but it came from further away. The object came from the west and headed southeast over our house. My husband saw it around 11:15 and woke me up around 11:30. It was moving past our house around 5-10 minutes later.” (Personal communication)

December 13, 2006 Newport, California. A young couple was out riding around when they reportedly observed a disc-shaped object hovering motionless near the road. Ufologist Peter Davenport spoke with the mother of the female witness. He reported: “It appeared to them to have a distinct ‘bulge’ on the top side of the object, and it had flashing green and blue lights along the edge of the flange of the object. The boyfriend stopped his car, and the young woman (age 22 yrs) attempted to photograph the object with her digital camera. When the camera flashed, the object suddenly shot toward the witnesses, passing over their car. They both heard a peculiar buzzing or humming as it passed over. The daughter reported there were ten other vehicles and a police cruiser stopped on the same road. Mother telephoned the Newport Police Department, but the police did not volunteer that any incident had been reported to their offices.”

December 10, 2006 approx. 8 p.m. Trumann, Arkansas. Witness reported: “While riding in a church bus from Memphis, TN to Jonesboro, AR on highway 63 North, I noticed a large amber light in the northwest sky. At first, I thought what I was seeing was a star or planet, but then it started getting closer. I pointed out the light to my husband. The light seemed to parallel the highway traveling basically southeast. Since I was seated by a window, I had a brief view as it passed by. It was a black chevron with at least 5 amber lights. I have no idea of how to judge the altitude, but it looked to be a large craft. As far as I know, I am the only passenger to see the chevron, but my husband witnessed the light as it was approaching. My background is education.”

December 1, 2006 3 p.m. Louisa, Kentucky. Witnesses in car driving around camp ground at Boone’s Landing when they observed a UFO. Witness stated: “We observed an object moving in the sky from east to west while another object of the same shape and size was moving in the opposite direction when they met and flew off in different directions. We had a clear view of the sky, except there were clouds moving by which obstructed the objects for a few seconds. The objects were a disc shape with a silver color to them and one was more dim than the other but still very visible.”

November 14, 2006 8:45 p.m. Florence, Oregon. Witness claimed that he was walking on the coast in a small retirement community known as Greentrees. Then, in his own words: “It was a clear night when out of the corner of my eye I saw an object that was very bright orange, like a welder’s arc in brightness that looked like two great big balls of light, each about the size of the moon. I noticed some kind of structure, very dimly lit, between the balls of light. I followed it as it moved slowly and silently along and was able to keep up with it until it got to my house. I was so surprised and stunned at what I was seeing that I forgot to call my wife to come out. It went down our road until it got over the woods and then circled back towards me! It was only about three houses down when it then went up our back hill and off to the west. As I was watching it got west towards the ocean, it blinked off and was gone. I have become obsessed with finding out what this could have been. I also called our police about it but that went nowhere. Our Coast Guard flies helicopters but this was silent.”

November 7, 2006 approx. 4:30p.m. O’Hare Airport, Chicago, Illinois. Reportedly about a dozen witnesses in the vicinity of Gate C 17, observed perfectly round and metallic looking disc-shaped object, about the size of a U.S. quarter held at arm’s length, hovering almost directly above Gate C 17. The circular object appeared also to be spinning. This went on for about two minutes, and then the object suddenly shot straight up at a high rate of speed and into a solid overcast at the time, which was said to be 1,900 feet. A “hole” was left in the clouds where the UFO had passed through. Reportedly, the FAA had not tracked it on radar, although according to the National UFO Reporting Center that fact had not yet been confirmed.

November 7, 2006 night Industry, Maine. Brad Luker, 40, a former naval intelligence crypt-tech, currently employed as a power plant operator, is described as a no-nonsense kind of guy who doesn’t believe in the existence of things like Bigfoot, aliens and the Loch Ness monster.

So what did he see? “It was really bizarre,” he confessed. “I’ve never seen anything like it. I do a lot of camping, and I’ve seen all the basic stuff (in the sky). Most strange things in the sky are high up in the air. This was way, way down here.” He was driving along when this strange objects with lights appeared. Soon it was some 300 feet above him, so he pulled over and opened his car door to listen. All that he could heard was a sound like a quiet jet engine. A woman in an SUV who had been behind him spoke with Luker and said that she thought that it was an aircraft that had been about to land in the road.

Luker said it stopped over him for a few seconds, adding: “That’s when it really freaked me out.” He reasons that it must have been a military plane. He said, “But I don’t know why they would fly it that low, and I don’t know why they would be out in Industry, Maine. It really doesn’t make sense. But that’s the only thing I can think of because I really don’t believe in spaceships, or anything like that.”

October 27, 2006 7:30 p.m. Pittsfield, Maine. Witness reported: “Was walking dog with my fiancé and an airliner was passing overhead. We were looking at it and its flashing lights, which is a common sight as we are near the Bangor International Airport. We noticed however an ever brightening star behind the plane. It was getting so bright it drew our attention to it. It grew in brightness to the point a halo formed around it. It was at its brightest about half the size of the full moon.

“It suddenly dimmed to a glowing red ball of light that slowly started to move away and then seemed to accelerate up and away very quickly to the northeast.

“I am former military and have flown on both civilian and military aircraft. I’ve spent considerable time on military airfields and am quite familiar with aircraft of all types, including the stealth fight and B2. I also have an interest in astronomy and am familiar with meteors, comets, etc. What I and my fiancé saw was unlike anything I have ever witnessed. It has left me frustrated feeling like after seeing something so incredible there should be something more.”

October 1, 2006 Denver, Colorado. According to airline pilot: “While flying westbound at FL380 (38,000’) my First Officer and I saw a very bright, white light at our 9 o’clock high position. The object was just east of Denver at what seemed to be 40 to 50 thousand feet and was moving north to northeast. Four to five smaller lights appeared behind the main object at even spacing, and maintained the same altitude and speed as the lead object.”

“I asked Denver Center (Air Traffic Control) if they had traffic at my 9 o’clock high. They replied negative. I said, ‘maybe it’s space junk burning up’ but another airliner on frequency said no, it was moving too horizontal and did not have a trail of burning debris.

“I agreed. The lights went out as they moved off to the north and east. I’ve seen many meteors while flying and this was not a meteor. It was not a conventional aircraft as it had no position, strobe, or anti-collision lights.

“I have 17,000+ hours of flying time over 40 years. I’m a Captain at a major airline and a retired USAFR Lt. Col. fighter pilot. This event was unlike anything I’ve ever seen.”

October 29, 2006 6:12 p.m. Cameron Park, Texas. Lady described brief “disk” encounter. “Driving north on Cameron Park Drive I saw a straight line of bright white lights ahead of me to the left. Thought it was a plane landing at the local airport, but as I approached it, I could see that it was hovering over someone’s backyard. Now I thought it was a helicopter, still just seeing white lights.

“As I was almost caught up with it I could see that it had very bright colored lights surrounding the entire circular edge of the craft, like really big Christmas lights, big bright bulbs, yellow, green, blue, red. I think those were all the colors. The craft had a circular shape in general, with pointed ends around it at each different color light. I estimate that it was close to 17-25 feet in diameter.

“It continued to hover for about a half second, then moved seemingly parallel to the ground over towards me, over my car and then onto the other side of the road above another house, all the time I could see the circle of very big bright lights, and then it was gone. When it went over my car, it made no noise. I drive a car that has lousy sound proofing. (Honda) My first thought was that it was a toy, but it was silent. ÉI am just a regular mom. I am a graduate nursing student, and in my previous career I was an educator.”

October 22, 2006 10:30 p.m. Georgetown, Texas. Witness, a technical writer for a computer software company, described watching two “oval” looking objects for approx. 7-10 seconds. “While outside having a cigarette, two very bright oval objects went from roughly southeast to northwest. Their shape was clearly visible, and there was a slight green hue to the light they emitted, which was very bright. They were about 40 degrees above the horizon and moving apparently very fast. One of them then suddenly reversed direction for about a second, very quickly moving back to approximately where I first saw it, then it suddenly reversed direction again and almost immediately caught up with the other object. About a second later, both objects suddenly disappeared simultaneously. There was no sound at all that I could hear from the objects.

October 13, 2006 approx. 10:30 p.m. Dawsonville, Georgia. Witness, a 31 year old journalist, with six years experience working for CNN, and an amateur astronomer, had been on a camping trip with his girlfriend at War Hill Lake when he saw something very unusual. He reported: “Éas we were falling asleep in our tent, I heard a thunderous noise coming towards us from the south side of the lake. The noise was definitely a helicopter and almost certainly a Hewey. Its roaring engines sounded like it was going at full throttle. It was deafening. I stuck my head out of the tent in time to see the chopper approaching, fast and barely 70 feet above the lake. It was as I stared at the helicopter that I saw it. Ahead of the chopper (perhaps 50 yards ahead of it and 100 yards to the chopper’s left) was a boomerang-shaped object flying silently over the tree tops. What stunned me was that the object was not only a ghostlike pale white/blue glow BUT the craft was so incredibly thin, that I couldn’t even see any bulge or area in the fuselage that would be capable of fitting one or more pilots.

“The object looked like two giant, glowing toothpicks joined in a V with basketball-like glowing orbs at the wingtips and one in the center joint. It then came clear to me that the chopper was tracking the object in some way, either racing it, chasing it or observing it. The sighting lasted 10 seconds. However, given the half moon starlit night, visibility was AMAZING.”

October 11, 2006 5:40 a.m. York, Maine. Witness reported brief (approx. 30 second) sighting of a flying “disk.” “Looking to the eastern sky I saw what at first thought to be a bright star or planetary object moving at an even but rapid rate of speed. In profile it appeared disc shaped with three large pulsing lights which changed from white to red during the time it was in my field of vision. The sky was very clear and the object was about thirty degrees above the horizon. The craft I could approximate to be twice the length of a commercial passenger jet and appeared illuminated from within. My impression was the smoothness of the path, not as if propelled by itself but rather as if being pulled by some force across the sky. The effect was somewhat hypnotic.”

October 7, 2006 approx. 2:30 a.m. Blacksburg, Virginia. Three people participating in an Army ROTC weekend training exercise allegedly observed a UFO. One of them writes: “É(we) witnessed a large ball of light traveling slowly over the treetops. There was a very high pitched humming noise. Our compasses were not working, but using terrain association we figured that it was heading roughly north/northeast, at maybe 10-20 mph. It was moving much too slowly to be a missile or other projectile that I’ve ever seen, and was far too close to have been mistaken for a helicopter or an airplane. ÉI have heard from other cadets in the NR Battalion besides those in my squad/fireteam that saw the same object early that morning. It passed almost over us, and I could not discern its shape. It was only a ‘blob’ of light.”

October 1, 2006 11 p.m. Wide Ruins, Arizona. Report from Navajo Reservation of a cylinder-shaped object. “The object flew close to the ground. It changed colors (blue, green, and yellow) while it glided by the school. Three lights flashed quickly. As it headed away from us, the shape became vivid to a glowing cylinder. There was no noise, just a quiet glide. As it headed farther out, the object quickly shrunk to a small bright dot. It disappeared over the horizon. The object seemed to be traveling from the south direction and disappeared into the northeast direction between Wide Ruins School and Window Rock, Arizona.” Event lasted approx. two minutes.
